Happy New Year... 2006

2005 is going to end and tomorrow will be a brand new year. Every year-end, I'll stay at home, doing nothing, hoping to see fire cracker from my house. There is no exception for this year. I actually received 2 calls from my friends, asking me to join countdown party, 1 from a PMO senior, and 1 from my CHS classmate. I didn't feel like going eventhough staying alone at home with my brother. Maybe I just want some silent moment, since my mum has retired and she'll be around whenever I have holidays.

2006 is coming and that means I am 1 year older now. It's my 3rd year of my medical course and I am now 21 year-old. Time flew really fast...

I haven't set any plan yet for 2006 as I think I won't follow it eventhough I've set it. By the way, I think I have to get used to write 06 instead of 05. 060606060606.....Haha...

Here, I would like to wish every1 to have a healthy and prosperous new year. Happy Happy New Year!!!

{Movies} "Perhaps Love" & "King Kong"

Wow! It's been a long time since I last updated my blog. So sorry for those who kept track to my blog but was disappointed. Haha... I'm just being busy... and lazy....

I'm having holiday now and what I most wanted to do is to watch "Perhaps Love" and "King Kong" in the cinema. I've seen the trailers of both movie long time ago but I've to wait till my exam finish. And my wish came true yesterday as Mun Yee and I went to Pyramid and watch both movie 1 shot in a day.

Both were really good films. "Perhaps Love" was a musical drama so I planned to watch it in cinema. I wanted to watch "Perhaps Love" because of Ji Jin Hee and Jacky Cheung (haha... not Takeshi). It's the 1st time 4 Ji Jin Hee acting in a Chinese film and singing in Mandarin. Well, maybe because Jacky was his teacher, he singing wasn't so bad, just a little bit weird pronounciation. Jacky Cheung... no doubt, he is really good in singing. In my opinion, he sang in a different way in the film, unlike those he used to sing in his album and believe me, he looked more "man" in the film with his really good voice. Really wish to listen to his live concert. Takeshi Kaneshiro look so handsome in the film but I don't like his singing lo. Maybe it's because the song itself wasn't that nice but other songs were quite nice especially Jacky's. And Zhou Xun, I don't really like her b4 that for unknown reason. But I think she really acted well in the film. I like the part, where Jacky Cheung was "died" as I never expected that. U'll know if u watch it (suspense a bit here..haha). So... overall I gave 8/10 for this film.

"King Kong"... I saw its trailer since August when I was watching "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". Then I saw it again when I was watching "Harry Potter 4". I kept saying to my friends that I wanted to watch this and its trailer was shown for 4 months. I didn't know it was directed by Peter Jackson, the director of "Lord of the Ring" b4 that. My urge to watch it became stronger when I knew the director was Peter Jackson. Again, he didn't let the audience down. I thought it was too long for the film to be 3 hours and 8 minutes but you woudn't notice it until the film finished. It was really worth to watch "King Kong" in cinema. Btw, I noticed 1 small mistake in the film which I think only few people could notice (maybe a lot). Sometime, you would notice some small mistakes in those big big films, like "Harry Potter". Maybe they think that the audience won't pay attention to them. So I would give 9.5/10 for "King Kong".

And also, I noticed that I've watched a lot of movies in CINEMA this year. 6 in total, I think, maybe more. Maybe compare to others, it is just a small amount, but usually I only watch 1/2 movies per year. Do you know what does it mean? It means and proves that a lot of good movies were playing this year. Haha...

"You look like XXX!"

"You look like XXX!" Since young, people keep telling me that. "You look like XXX!" Dunno whether you have this kind of experience b4, but I dun like when I heard this. (of course... except if they said I look like my dad or mum.)

When I was around 6/7 yo, people used to say that, "You look like your aunt!" Eh.. Pls la... I'm not her child, how come I look like her? I didn't know how to response when people saying that. I heard this until I was around secondary school. Luckily now, I didn't hear this anymore. That's why, till now, I don't really like that aunt. She speak very loud and everytime when she tumpang our car to go back to kl from hometown, her loud voice prevent me to sleep and listen to the songs... I don't like her... Sshh...I've never tell my parents about this...

"You look like one of my friends!" My friends, Li Sim and Yee Shion used to say that during my secondary school time. Again, I didn't know how to response. Yee Shion even said that a few time until we were F5. I dunno how alike her friend and me look, I never see the photo b4. And also they said that that's why I look more "qing1 qie4 gan3" to them.

"You look like one of my friends!" I heard this again when I went to a writing camp. This girl even sent me a photo of her friend. I showed the photo around and asked my friend. Some said alike but some said don't.

"You look like one of my friends!" I heard this from Jane again in IMU. She said that her friend is from Hong Kong but her friend is fatter. "You look like her!" Arathi said that to me, pointing to a girl in IMU. And this girl was my primary school mate. She is thinner and prettier, I think, that's why I kept telling Arathi that we don't look alike. Btw, only Arathi said so, I asked other friends and they said don't.

Then that day I went to Xin Yi's campus, she told me that, "That girl look like you!" I couldn't really see her face but I kept saying no. Haha....

And the most recent 1 was.... "Eh, Byan, you look like Sue Chen!" Oh, Gosh!!! I don't want to look like her la. Arathi said so, Mitra said so, Poh Tian said so, and Chaozer kept saying that also and he would call me Dr. Sue Chen and I pretended that I didn't hear.

That's why I seldom say that "You look like XXX!" because I've got enough of that especially the Sue Chen 1 and my aunt 1. At least not in front of them...

English Role Play

Hohoho...finally finished the role play thingy of my English class. It costs us 30 marks!!!! I was really worried and nervous b4 that. My partner was Bryan and actually he did all the thing...thinking the storyline, writing the script, and correcting the script after our lecturer had marked it. And what I needed to do was just act nicely...haha....

There were 1 pregnant mother and 1 doctor in our role play. Obviously I had to act as the pregnant mother since Bryan is a guy... Mun Yee actually suggested Bryan to act as the pregnant mother as it would be funnier. But I think the line of the doctor were longer so I chose the role of the pregnant mother. B4 that I really had no confidence to act because I had a lot of crying scene... So...this was the script of our role play:

Draft of interview

Dr: Good morning Mrs. Ku, please have a seat. You're not due for another week or so, is that right? What brings you here today?
Pt: Yes, my delivery's dated for the 12 th of December, but I came as soon as I could to see you. Something has happened!! I've been bleeding since last night. It's not serious, is it? (catches breath)
Pt: I couldn't sleep the whole night, I was dead worried…I'm afraid something had happened to the baby… (starts crying, tugs on Dr's sleeve)
Dr: Calm down, Mrs. Ku, many expectant mothers bleed a little now and then, and especially when one is so near to delivering…(interrupted by Pt)
Pt: But I'm not like other mothers!
Dr: I didn't mean to suggest you were, I'm just saying it might not be a huge cause for concern.
Dr: Let's go through this together, shall we? Can you tell me exactly what happened last night?
Pt: Well, I think it was around 3 am (sniff) I wasn't able to sleep, so I went off to the kitchen to get a glass of warm milk (sniff) When I returned to my bed, I saw blood on the bed sheets!
Dr: Do go on, are you sure it was your blood?
Pt: (sniff) It was on my side of the bed! The right side…My husband sleeps on the left side…Nobody sleeps on my side, you see…only me (talks fast, stammering, sobbing- interrupted by Dr.)
Dr: Please Mrs. Ku, deep breaths (hands Pt a plastic bag and demonstrates breathing technique) Right, keep on taking breaths, we'll do this slowly, ok?
Pt: (nods head, taking breaths)
Dr: Did you examine the blood?
Pt: (nods head vigorously)
Dr: Would you mind describing the blood? Was it dried or was it still wet?
Pt: Dried, I think. No, wet. Ohh, my hands could be wet from the kitchen. I’m not sure!
Dr: Ok, let's sidestep that. How much blood do you think there was?
Pt: Uhmm...I'm not sure. I think there was a large patch…
Dr: Right, are you in pain right now, Mrs. Ku?
Pt: (sniff) No, just a little tired, that’s all. I felt a little giddy in the car while ago, but I’m feeling much better now…
Dr: Do you feel any cramps or contractions?
Pt: No…I don't think so.
Dr: Do you feel any chills or do you feel feverish?
Pt: No, I don't.
Dr: Hmm, can you think of anything that might have caused you to bleed? Were you injured or did you accidentally knock on anything yesterday?
Pt: (shakes head)
Dr: Did you feel any pain or discomfort in the evening before you went off to bed?
Pt: (shakes head)
Pt: Well, there is one thing… (reluctantly)
Dr: Please do not be shy, Mrs. Ku. I need as much information as I can in order to help you.
Pt: Uhmm, we were celebrating last night. Me and my husband.
Dr: I’m quite certain it wasn't alcohol, although I really do not suggest you drinking so far into the pregnancy.
Pt: We weren't drinking, Dr. We just thought it'll be a small celebratory affair, I'm afraid we were a bit too rough.
Dr: What do you mean, Mrs. Ku?
Pt: We were having sex! I'm so sorry. We're so sorry! (starts sobbing)
Dr: Mrs. Ku…
Pt: No…we’re sorry…We just thought it'll be one last time before the baby was born.
Dr: Mrs. Ku…
Pt: No… because of our stupidity and lack of control, our poor baby suffered. Please save her, doctor! Please!
Dr: Mrs. Ku, please do stop. (exasperated again) Please, I assure you that sex is quite safe in cases of a normal pregnancy. Many doctors may recommend that mothers stop having sex during the final weeks of pregnancy, just as a safety precaution.
Pt: (sniff) Will my baby be alright?
Dr: We'll do an ultrasound and have a look at her, alright? I'm also going to do a vaginal examination to see whether your cervix might be dilated. We need to find out the reason for the bleeding, Mrs. Ku.
Pt: Yes, thank you, thank you (still sobbing)
Dr: Meanwhile, I strongly advise against further sexual intercourse, until we find the cause of your bleeding. Right, anything else that’s on your mind? Any questions?
Pt: No, it's alright. I just want to check if the baby's safe as soon as possible.

****************************************************************

So what do you think after reading the script? What 1st struck into my mind was "Huh? I've to cry ar?" Besides my family, I seldom cry in front of other people including my closest friends. So I got a really big problem to overcome this. We had a little pratice b4 the class started and Bryan actually not satisfied with my acting. Haih....

Btw our role play ended up with the lecturer's compliment. Haha... She even praised me for my good acting.... Hahaha....Eh! Don't play play! I got hidden talent, you know? But I was so embarassed after the play... don't even dare to look at my classmates.

We had fun in the class, though. I really enjoying watching people acting and laughing at them... haha... And also thanks to Bryan and Mun Yee (who helped me to write our 1st script)...
